This photo is part of the ‘Temporal Echoes’ collection, where I focus on the motion blur effect achieved by moving the subject rather than the camera, creating the impression of a living entity. In this particular photo, part of the series titled “Playtime,” the subject is a vintage doll borrowed from my daughter’s collection; I had to ask her permission to use it! The abstract idea was to capture the doll playing with her ball, with vibrant colours and strong shadows assisting me in conveying the essence of movement. Achieving consistency in the motion blur effect was a good challenge, as I aimed for authenticity rather than postproduction manipulation.
The ‘Playtime’ photos are printed on Hahnemühle Photorag 308 gsm paper, selected for its exceptional ability to highlight the soft textures and subtle gradients created by the motion blur effect. The paper’s smooth, cotton-like surface provides depth and clarity while preserving the intricate details of the image.
