Behind Ophelia

Ophelia is a photo I ideated and created for the ‘Walls of Fame’ series, where iconic artworks are reimagined through a contemporary perspective.

In this photo, I interpreted Sir John Everett Millais’ painting Ophelia, which depicts Ophelia’s death. In my rendition, a doll becomes the subject, symbolising the inability to experience death. Additionally, unlike Sir John Everett Millais, I didn’t need to use candles to keep the water warm for the model!

In the above images, there is the original masterpiece, Ophelia by John Everett Millais, on the left, and my reinterpretation on the right.

In these photos, I am preparing the set for Ophelia. I used a fish tank to immerse the doll in the water and I used natural element to create the environment. It was spring, so I was able to find mini flowers as well!

Ophelia is available as a limited edition print.
