Behind The Song of Love

The Song of Love is a photo I ideated and created for the ‘Walls of Fame’ series, where iconic artworks are reimagined through a contemporary perspective.

In this photo, I interpreted Giorgio De Chirico’s painting The Song of Love. I really enjoyed making this photo; I like Giorgio De Chirico’s metaphysical painting and I was curious to see what I could create with such a beautiful reference. This photo is actually my second attempt. At first, the photo I made was more like a photographic copy of the painting, and in the end, I didn’t like it as it was just a copy. In my second attempt, I approached the visual differently, giving more space to my creativity.

In the above images, there is the original masterpiece, The Song of Love by Giorgio De Chirico, on the left, and my reinterpretation on the right.

In these photos, I am preparing the set for The Song of Love. I meticulously handcrafted the elements on the stage, including the hand-painted Apollo head. The set was quite big, measuring 150cm x 200cm. I opted to take the picture with a technical camera, a tool that allowed me to control the focus perfectly even in a big set as I had with The Song of Love picture.

The Song of Love is available as a limited edition print.
